WWII gas protective hood (Muts gasbescherming US Army)

It is a men's size Medium. The hood is made of OD wool flannel, with a brownish OD knit elastic edge that fits tightly around the face. It closes with three plastic OD buttons. It is lined with what appears to be a khaki cotton lining.The hood is used condition, clean, undamaged except for about a dozen small nips to the wool that fits around the face.

These were intended to protect troops against gas blistering agents, but they were never used for that. The hood was intended as part of the early WWII gas protective equipment. These wool hoods were actually used by US GI's during the Battle of the Bulge and in Europe during the winter of 1944-45.
