Front of medal shows the Utica seal and reads "SEAL OF THE CITY OF UTICA UNUNDAGES". ("Unundadages" is the original Iroquois name for Utica, which means "around the hill.) The insignia of the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Marines are each provided on the front of the medal as well. The reverese reads "PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF UTICA AUGUST 14 1946".
