The AN-6550 or AN6550-AN-S-31 replaced the A-4 in 1943. Made in olive drab gabardine or in tan cotton, the AN-6550 has a zipper front, a belt, straps at the bottom of the legs and one or two chest flap pockets and two shin flap pockets, all with button closure.
