set of Standard issue, model 30 (1897) ammunition pouch as used by the Japanese army throughout the war. The 15cm x 10cm, dual pocket, leather pouches originally would have held two groups of three five-round clips of 7.7mm ammunition. Hinged top flaps open outward and are each secured by a horizontal closure strap, with stud holes to each end, passing through vertical loops to the flap tops, and attaching to steel studs on either side of the pouches. Two vertical belt loops are sewn to the reverse. The interior is separated into two compartments by a thick divider.
