Before 1960. The plaque worn by civil servants on the front of their helmets was colloquially referred to as a "hen plate". This emblem crest was thus familiarly given this nickname because the Territorial Administrator (AT), or any official wearing his helmet and visiting a village, was immediately given a hen as a welcome gift.
