The badge is adapted from the crest of the Malayan colony. Singapore District was formed in February 1946 when it took over from the previous No. 2 Area SEAC. The area of responsibility included Singapore Island, most of Johore State and the Dutch Riow archipelago. At the end of November 1947 Riow was handed back to the Dutch and Johore became no longer the responsibility of the District
