MARRIOTT, ARTHUR PELHAM. M.C., Capt., Royal Field Artillery, s. of Charles Richardson Marriott, Indian Civil Service (retired), by his wife, Louise, dau. of () Munro; b. Caleutta, India, 20 Tune, 1894; edue. Durlston School, Swanage; Marlborough Colleze, and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich ; 2nd Lieut., Royal Field Artillery, 18 July promoted Lieut. 3 June, 1915, and 20 Aug 1916; wes assigned to the tist Battery and in Jan. 1914, joined the 85t Battery at Fabbilpur, India; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders front the following Noy., and was killed in action during an artillery preparation for the attack on Vimy Ridge. Buried at Barlin, near Careney, west of Vimy Ridge. His Colonel wrote that he was never more useful than when under fire. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallant and distinguished service in the field
