The 25 combat equipment jumps necessary to qualify for the Master Parachutist Badge must be from a static line.

The master parachutist badge is 38mm in width at the widest part of the wings and 31mm from the top of the wreath to the bottom of the parachute where the risers meet in a point.

The 502nd Infantry Regiment (502nd INF) was established after the outbreak of World War II, and assigned as a regiment of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. The regiment saw substantial action in the European Theater of World War II. Reactivating in a new form in 1956, the 502nd Infantry has served in theVietnam War, the first Gulf WarOperation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. It was removed from parachute status with the rest of the 101st Airborne Division in 1969, and since 1974, the regiment has been classified as an Air Assault unit. Currently, its 1st and 2nd Battalions are active. Both battalions are assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
