This badge was adopted in October 1946. It was designed by Lt. Col. W.S. Shepherd, former OC No. 15 Infantry Training Centre at Colchester. It was intended to underline the association of the area with the Vikings. Note that the East Anglian Brigade wore the same badge but on a blue ground.
