cap Canada size 6 1/4 liner black oilcloth dated 1918, jacket medium size no visible date or markings, Constructed of olive brown wool, the soft body service cap was introduced in 1916, and it became known as the British “Trench Cap”, although it was officially designated as the “Service Dress Cap”. Overall excellent condition, with interior signs of use and wear but with the cap exterior remaining quite clean and without distracting holes or stains.Jacket has some small moth damage (see pics) and small stains

The Eaton Machine Gun Battery was mobilized on January 1, 1915, under the patronage of Sir John Craig Eaton and arrived in England on June 15th. In January 1916, the name was changed to the Eaton Motor Machine Gun Battery. When the battery arrived in France on February 26th, it served as part of the 3rd Canadian Division. From July 1916 to June 1918, it was transferred to the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade as D Battery, and the troops were allowed to wear their own badges. In June 1918, the battery was absorbed into the 2nd Canadian Motor Machine Gun Battery as B Battery.
