Formation patch 1st Canadian Army MP

A diamond shaped canvas formation patch, about 2 1/2" high by 2 7/8" across, consisting of a red background with a 3/4" wide blue horizontal strip across the center. The colors stand for the 1st and 2nd corps which were the Army’s components.

Every infantry or armored Division had its own insignia. The First Canadian Army was formed in early 1942 and was the senior Canadian operational formation in Europe during the Second World War. It consisted of some 170,000 men who were organized into 2 corps (5 divisions and 2 armoured brigades).
